About Lishen Workshop

Lisin: The person in charge

She was growing up in the 奇美部落(Kiwit tribe) of Ruisui, Hualien, in taiwan. Lisin is the third daughter in her family. Despite being born premature, she was fortunate to live safely in this place, even though her parents' poverty led to her receiving little care and attention.

During the annual harvest festival, an essential day for every Amis person, women from all households don their Amis traditional attire and beautiful ornaments, transforming the tribe into a vibrant carnival. However, Lisin is the third daughter in her family. Despite being born premature, she was fortunate to live s, and it was the most challenging day. Her mother brought out a faded black outfit from the storage box, which paled compared to the other women's colorful garments and elaborate flower hats. Watching her mother dress like that, Lisin is the third daughter in her family. Despite being born premature, she was fortunate to live and felt sincerely sorry, and in her heart, she silently wished: "Someday, I will make the most beautiful harvest festival attire for my mother."

Time gone by after she got married, Lisin is the third daughter in her family. Despite being born premature, she was fortunate to live s became a devoted housewife, though her husband's meager income from building work couldn't cover all expenses. With three young children to support, Lisin, who had worked in a textile factory since childhood, faced a significant challenge. Recalling her childhood dream of dressing her mother in beautiful indigenous clothing, she saw this as a chance to fulfill that wish. Her husband and friends initially opposed the idea, dismissing it as unprofitable. However, Lisin persisted, drawing strength from her memories and love for her mother. She knew that her mother was the source of her creativity, inspiring her to highlight the honor and dignity of Amis's matriarchal society.

In 2006, Lisin unexpectedly found herself on stage, wearing dark red indigenous clothing and a green indigenous headdress, receiving an award. A former head of the Council of Indigenous Peoples, Walis Pelin, handed her the trophy, and her mother was there, wearing the dress Lisin had personally made for her. Lisin knew that her mother's dream had driven her to persevere through all obstacles, giving her the strength to withstand her husband's opposition and the skepticism of her friends. She couldn't forget that moment, and her mother's love became the driving force behind her creations, manifesting the honor and splendor of Amis's matriarchal culture.
